Micaela Myers

… will be the author featured in the New Short Fiction Series January 9, 8pm at the Beverly Hills Public Library, 444 North Rexford Drive, Beverly Hills. Six of her stories will be performed by a cast that includes Stacie Richards Dail (Entourage), Sarah MacKay (Criminal Minds), and Michael Spellman (ER).

The author of three equestrian books, Myers has a particular fondness for flash fiction which she attributes to a background in poetry. She enjoys the experimentation allowed by the short form: “I’ve written flashes from all points of view, covering a wide time span or a single moment, and played with forms—a story in resume form, a story in list form, etc.” She cites Black Maps by her MFA professor David Jauss as a favorite story collection, and “Distant View of a Minaret” by Alfia Rifaat as a favorite piece of flash fiction.

A number of her published stories can be found at her website. Her credits include the Mississippi Review, Short Story, and Perigee.

NOTE: The February 13 New Short Fiction Show will be a book launch for a new collection by Ray Bradbury. Reservations required.
