UCLA Publication Party

Last night at the Skirball Center I attended this annual event showcasing recent work by teachers in the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program. Highlights:

  • Suzanne Lummis reading her poem “The Night Life is For You” from the new Ploughshares (her most recent collection is In Danger–here are links to poems in The Cortland Review; Ploughshares; and The Drunken Boat)
  • Stephanie Waxman reading from her new story collection Sex & Death (more info at her website)
  • and Lou Mathews (L.A. Breakdown) reading from the story “Huevos” forthcoming at failbetter (his story “The Garlic Eater,” also at failbetter, got a Special Mention in last year’s Pushcart)
