This site is devoted to a love of mine–the short story. And more generally to literary fiction. I’ll post my own writing, talk about the craft of fiction, and about writers I admire. I’ll discuss the literary marketplace: the good and bad of what’s being written; literary journals, both print and on-line; the business of getting stories published. My hope is all this will be of interest both to fellow writers and to fans of good writing. I’ll throw in some talk about movies, music and pop culture as well.

Though I am using a blog template for convenience, this site is built as much around the ‘pages’ listed in the side-bar as it is around the traditional blog ‘post.’ I hope to treat these pages as works-in- progress and will note additions, updates, and new features in site posts. Other posts will be about stories, books, and other reading I find worthwhile (read); literary news and happenings (lit-life); notes on contests and deadlines and new markets (submit); language (word); or my own writing (me). Rounding it out will be the occasional note about movies and such (watch), and music (listen).
